Tonight, I ask the Congress to support our students and back my plan to offer vocational and technical education in every single high school in America. My Administration is determined to give our citizens the opportunities they need regardless of age or background. This is the home of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, the Wright Brothers, Neil Armstrong, and so many more. This is the country where children learn names like Wyatt Earp, Davy Crockett, and Annie Oakley. This is the place where the pilgrims landed at Plymouth and where Texas patriots made their last stand at the Alamo.

We can help them make it very good in a short period of time, but perhaps they are too proud or too foolish to ask for that help.
